15 Oct Colleen & Kerry – Lionsgate Event Center Wedding
We have been capturing weddings in Colorado for seven years now and this was the first time we’ve ever visited the Lionsgate Event Center. I’d say it was long overdue, because this venue has everything we LOVE as wedding photographers. It’s got some incredible features for photographs, it’s small enough so you’re not running around all day (but large enough to host an awesome party) and the venue even has chickens running around, who doesn’t love that?! The grounds have a variety of ceremony and reception sites to choose from so whether you want an indoor or outdoor wedding, there are always options to fit your style or comfort level due to weather.
Lionsgate Event Center Wedding – Lafayette
For this early Spring event Lyssa and I captured the wedding of Colleen & Kerry. They were a really fun couple and had an easy-going bridal party and family which allowed for us to vibe super-well with everyone! We met up with both parties before-hand at a nearby hotel to capture the final getting-ready details and then headed over to Lionsgate. We’ve been to a lot of wedding venues over the years (and I mean a lot) and I have to admit, the prep area for both the women and the guys are both some of the best we’ve seen. The ladies prep area in the chandelier room has full-sized vanity mirrors with plenty of flattering lighting, and the guys area is in the basement trophy room complete with a pool table, card table and plenty of big comfy couches to relax on. Colleen really wanted to do a “first look” with Kerry (and her dad) and we chose to do it in the chandelier room (because it’s awesome in there). Afterwards, we grabbed a few photos of the two of them and then headed out to the Dove Garden for their ceremony. When the ceremony concluded we wrapped up photos with the family and bridal party then headed inside for the reception, which was beautifully setup.
As you’ve seen from our portfolio, we love capturing night shots and Lionsgate has some really awesome props and scenery to incorporate with our signature style. We could have done an entire session alone at night but stuck to capturing images with the really neat phone booth and brickwork of the main building. For the rest of the night we captured some awesome moments of guests dancing and being married and also experienced a first for us – chugging beer out of a prosthetic leg (we laugh every time thinking back on this).
Thanks for checking out the photos from this wedding! If you’re getting married at Lionsgate or any venue in Colorado, we’d love to be a part of your big day!
