Where to take family photos in Fort Collins
Fort Collins is home to to so many amazing opportunities for photos with your loved ones. Here are a few of my favorite locations in the area:
- CSU Oval and Campus: The Colorado State University Oval is a beautiful, iconic spot with a mix of architecture and greenery. The campus itself has many charming buildings and scenic areas. In the Spring, there are some very beautiful trees here that bloom with pink and white flowers.
- City Park: Fort Collins City Park is a popular spot with a lake, playgrounds, and open spaces. The lake and surrounding areas provide a lovely backdrop for family photos.
- Old Town Square: The historic Old Town area has brick-lined streets, colorful storefronts, and unique architecture. It’s a vibrant and charming setting for family photos. I especially enjoy taking photos here in the winter season from Thanksgiving to Valentines day when all of the lights are up in the evenings.
- Poudre River Trail: The Poudre River Trail offers a natural and scenic environment, with the river, trees, and open spaces. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a more outdoorsy setting. I have a few “secret spots” here that are incredible backdrops for photos.
- Horsetooth Reservoir: If you’re up for a short drive to the west side of town, Horsetooth Reservoir offers stunning views of the foothills and the water. There are also hiking trails and various points along the reservoir that can serve as beautiful backdrops.
- Fort Collins Gardens on Spring Creek: This botanical garden features a variety of themed gardens, including a rock garden and a children’s garden. It’s a peaceful and colorful setting for family photos.
- Fort Collins Trolley Barn: The trolley barn area, near the Fort Collins Municipal Railway, has an industrial-chic vibe with old trolley cars and tracks, making it a unique and interesting backdrop.
- Fossil Creek Park: This park has open fields, a playground, and a lake. The open spaces and natural surroundings make it a great spot for family photos.
- Masonic Temple and Library Park: The Masonic Temple and the adjacent Library Park offer a blend of historic architecture and green spaces, creating a visually appealing setting for photos.
- CSU Botanic Garden: This is another phenomenal place for photos, especially if you like flowers. It’s in the center of town, and easy to get to.
Whether you prefer a natural setting, historic charm, or a mix of both, Fort Collins has plenty to offer for capturing beautiful family memories.
