FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I GET TO ESTES PARK?

If you’re traveling from out of state, you’ll want to fly into Denver International Airport. From there, you can rent a car and drive up to Estes Park. The drive is about an hour and a half from the airport.

WHAT KIND OF WEATHER CAN I EXPECT?

Even though technically April falls in the Spring, plan and expect for Winter weather as Estes Park is in the Mountains. Layering is key. We will mainly be indoors but there will also be an outdoor photography portion so dress accordingly.

CAN I BRING A SPOUSE OR A FRIEND ON THE TRIP WITH ME?
Yes of course! They can even join us for Breakfast and Dinner if they’d like! They’re on their own for Lunch. If they do want to join us for these meals, please let us know at least 4 weeks before the event so we can prepare. There will also be an additional food cost added on if they choose to eat with us. (we can only accommodate one additional guest per person for meals)
CAN MY SPOUSE/FRIEND “TAG ALONG” WITH US DURING THE DAY, EVEN IF THEY’RE NOT ATTENDING THE WORKSHOP?
To be fair to the other attendees and to eliminate distractions, we respectfully ask that anyone that has not paid for a spot in our workshop remain absent from any of our education lectures and hands-on shooting. Thank you for understanding.
WHERE SHOULD I BOOK MY LODGING?
Our venue is in the middle of Estes Park. Estes Park is a very small town, so anywhere you book is typically no more than a 10min drive. AirBNB’s can be a bit more expensive than motels, so you may want to consider the latter.
WHAT TIME ARE WE GOING TO BE DONE ON EACH DAY?
This will be determined how quickly we get through the workshop material, but our goal will be to try and finish by 4/5pm with dinner around 6pm. On Saturday we will be starting late and ending late, as we’ll be going over reception lighting.
HOW MUCH GEAR SHOULD I BRING?
Bring at a minimum one camera and one wide lens and one portrait/telephoto lens. Geekoto will be providing triggers and lights, but feel free to bring your own lighting if you have something you’re comfortable with. If you can fit it in your luggage, a light stand or two is also awesome!
CAN I BRING AN AUDIO OR VIDEO RECORDING DEVICE TO THE WORKSHOP?
I ask that you please do not audio or video record any of the lecture or workshop material. However, if you’re lost or stuck on something, please don’t hesitate to speak up and ask questions for more clarification. We encourage you to take detailed notes as well. Also, this doesn’t mean you can’t take photos! BTS (behind the scenes) shots are definitely encouraged.
SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Estes Park is at 7,500ft in elevation, and some people do experience shortness of breath, headaches, dizziness, and dehydration. I recommend that a week before the wedding, you drink more water than you usually do. 3 days beforehand, limit alcohol consumption and during your stay, hydrate frequently, and be prepared with aspirin or CBD. On your first day at altitude, limit physical activity to allow your body to acclimate.

CAN I BRING ADULT BEVERAGES TO ENJOY?
Yes, however, we will be providing some as well. However just ask that you please be respectful with your level of consumption and also keep in mind that at elevation, you get inebriated much quicker.
WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
TBD, our chef is working on the menu now. We’ll have a variety of simple, yet flavorful food.
