This day is a perfect example of how unpredictable the weather in Estes Park (and Colorado for that matter) can be. For their Black Canyon Inn Wedding, Taylor and Aaron traveled from Omaha to celebrate their marriage with immediate family in an intimate setting. With expectations of some early spring greenery and mild weather, that all got quickly shut down with Mother Nature had other plans for us this past weekend. If you ask my opinion however, this snow couldn’t have come at a better time. Even though it snowed, the air temperature was very comfortable which made traveling and taking photos through Rocky Mountain National Park easygoing, and the early Spring snowfall made for some absolutely epic views – some of the best I’ve ever experienced in Colorado.
Black Canyon Inn Winter Wedding
I met Taylor and Aaron at the Black Canyon inn, and drove them around Rocky Mountain National Park to some of my favorite spots. The weather stayed consistently in the mid 40’s all day which made everyone nice and comfortable. Before taking off to The Park, I snapped some pictures of the bouquet of flowers Taylor made herself as well as a few of her other wedding details. After about an hour and half of driving around taking in all of the beautiful scenery, we headed back to Black Canyon Inn for their wedding. Reverend Scott Awbrey performed a beautiful, intimate ceremony followed by a dinner at the Twin Owls Steakhouse up in their loft. I absolutely love the setting in that restaurant – a quiet and romantic fine dining experience.
As my followers and readers know, I spend almost half of my time up in Estes Park. I’ve seen the scenery in every month of the year, and this April was definitely something special and exceptional compared to usual. The scenery was breathtaking and if you’re willing to risk the potential snow, you’ll experience some true beauty.
