Rocky Mountain National Park Winter Elopement
:
It always surprises me how many people travel from out of state for their Rocky Mountain National Park elopement sessions. I often take it for granted how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place, because every time I’m in our amazing National Park, I’m in awe. Most tourists and travelers visit Estes Park and the accompanying scenery in the Summer, or when the Elk are bugling in the Fall. Yet, not many visit in the Winter when in my opinion – it’s at it’s most beautiful. Sure it’s cold and windy, but the views and seclusion you get are absolutely astonishing. If you’re brave enough to trek through the mountains in the Winter, I promise you’ll get some spectacular photos.
I love being an Estes Park Wedding Photographer, because it gives me the opportunity to meet couples like Kaylea and Justin, who decided to drive all the way from Texas, just to have a private ceremony between the two of them (as well as an officiant and myself). Originally we had a spot picked out in town overlooking Lake Estes to hold their private ceremony, but the wind was blowing so crazy, we had to come up with a last minute relocation. We landed on holding the ceremony at Saint Francis of Assisi, which is just outside of town and is an adorable little chapel.
After a short, heartfelt ceremony we condensed to one vehicle, where I’d give the newly-wed couple their own private tour of my favorite photo spots in the park. They wanted photos not only expressing their love and emotion for each other, but shots they could hang as artwork in their house that incorporated the natural scenery and beauty that is the Colorado Mountains. Even though I only spent 2 hours with the couple, this was one Rocky Mountain National Park Elopement I will never forget!
