Redfeather Lakes is an absolutely gorgeous, secluded part of Northern Colorado. It’s near Wyoming and shares a border with the Medicine Bow National Forest, so naturally there’s a lot of beautiful greenery and mountain scenes. Because it’s still relatively unpopulated, there aren’t very many venues or spots to host a wedding so we haven’t had the chance to capture much more than half a dozen weddings up there. We had the opportunity to visit the Fox Acres Golf Club for Haley & Riley’s wedding and this place is absolutely gorgeous! It’s such an amazing hidden gem and has everything (and more) to host the perfect party for family and friends.
Fox Acres Golf Club Wedding
We started out the day capturing getting ready photos of Haley, Riley and their friends. There are a lot of nice condos and rental properties near Fox Acres which made it very convenient to quickly get to the venue. After some prep-shots, we headed over to a local Catholic Church just a few minutes away to capture their ceremony. Afterwards, we took some family photos and then had some down-time so we drove to a few of my favorite spots in Red Feather to grab some creative bride and groom portraits. Before we went back inside the clubhouse at the golf club, I took them to some spots near the course to incorporate the scenery. I’ve visited and shot weddings at quite a few golf clubs around the country and I must say – this one is one of the most interesting I’ve ever been to. There are interesting rock formations all around and you feel immersed and secluded within the forest making it such a unique experience.
Towards the end of the day, I captured Haley and Riley’s family and friends dancing and partying during the reception and managed to pull the couple out for some quick sunset shots. We were graced with absolutely phenomenal stormy skies which provided us really awesome color. Our adventures with this awesome couple have been really fun over the past year and a half getting to know them – from shooting their engagement session in the Tetons, to hunting waterfowl on the Platte and of course spending the day with them at their wedding. It’s always a pleasure getting to spend lots of time with our couples and getting to know them!
